Pederson Garden's & Landscapes Demonstration Garden


Rock Garden:

Our Rock Garden welcomes you to the garden center. Designed by Donna Peterson, St Louis County Master Gardener, and her husband, Duane. Experienced and talented in rock garden creations, Donna and Duane's Duluth garden has been published in several national magazines.

Butterfly Garden:

Although butterflies flit from garden to garden, this is the official site for larval plants and Butterfly Feeders. Our Butterfly Festival, held the third Saturday in July, relies on our gardens to bring together these wonderful friends. Originally designed with the help of Pat Thomas, St Louis County Master Gardener, specializing in butterflies.

Hummingbird Garden:

The Hummingbird is an amazing creature that turns a lovely garden into an exciting place to spend time. It is a garden that is overflowing with the glowers they love. Designed by Pederson's Staff.

Rain Garden:

This garden is strategically placed to catch the run-off from rain and from Pederson's irrigation system. It contains plants that thrive on excess moisture and full sun. The garden acts as a filter system for our holding pond. Designed by Chris Bay, Educator and Grower.

Oriental Garden:

Oriental GardenOur Oriental Garden is a work in progress. It is a place to visit for a sense of peace..of being a part of nature. Native trees are incorporated as back-drop for the garden so that it will blend naturally with its environment. Designed by Marillyn Persch, St Louis County Master Gardener, specializing in oriental plantings. Marillyn was assisted by Mae Anderson and Jan LeBard.

Bird Garden:

The landscape becomes more charming with the musical songs of birds. This garden shows an assortment of plants and elements that please the birds. Designed by Connie Sundquist, bird authority and well-known plantswoman from Duluth.

Iris-Peony Garden:

One of early summer's most exciting sights are Peonies and Iris growing together. Designed by Mae Anderson, Lake Superior Master Gardener and Iris-Peony expert.

Rose Garden:

Hardy, disease-pest resistant Shrub, along with the perennials that enhance them. Hardy Roses climbing on the Gazebo, which presents a resting place for visitors. Designed by Katerine Ahlgren, St Louis County Master Gardener, Rosarian and past president of the Lake Superior Rose Society.

Woodland Garden:

A 'walk in the wood' among those plants that love the shade. The Woodland Garden is perhaps the most serene of all the gardens. Designed by Jean Bruno, St. Louis County Master Gardener, specializing in woodland gardens.
